Last week, Leadership Polk Class XIX explored the City of Winter Haven, FL for their first class day of 2026! 🤩With visits to The Ritz, LEGOLAND Florida, Gram Parsons Derry Down, and the City of Winter Haven's newly constructed Chain of Lake Parks and Winter Haven Recreation & Cultural Center, class members saw firsthand the major role arts and tourism play in Polk County's economy. Class XIX also had the chance to visit local businesses, SS Designs and Carlton Music Center, showcasing Winter Haven's entrepreneurial spirit and helping class members understand the opportunities and challenges facing employers today. This month, Inside PCPS Class IV got into the holiday spirit during Fine Arts Day! 🎄🎁They visited Rochelle School of the Arts and Harrison School for the Arts to learn about the district's fine arts programs and magnet schools before covering public relations, the Polk Education Foundation, and information systems and technology at Lakeland Senior High School and the Jim Miles Professional Development Center. Throughout the day, class members were treated to student performances as they prepared for upcoming recitals and holiday concerts!We'd like to give a special thank you to Rodda Construction for serving as the lunch sponsor for the day 🎉 We can't wait for another exciting day in January! ... Last week, Leadership Polk Class XIX explored the City of Lakeland, FL - Government for their last class day of 2025! 🦢🤩With stops at Bonnet Springs Park, the Florida Children's Museum, Catapult Lakeland, Florida Southern College, and the newly expanded YMCA of West Central Florida, class members engaged in thoughtful conversations about how communities can support residents from birth through adulthood. The day wrapped up with an exciting visit to the Lakeland International Airport, where they explored the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s Lakeland Operations Center, Aerospace Center for Excellence, and Amazon Air to learn how aviation drives regional growth.
