Navigating the SNAP Benefits Crisis
In November 2025, the Council convened partners to discuss anticipated challenges related to federal and state changes affecting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and administration.
Local Response Efforts — to help mitigate impacts on residents, partners coordinated several immediate actions:
- Circulated an updated list of local food pantries and feeding resources
- Coordinated regional “Mega Pantries” in partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay
- Distributed $117,000 in United Community Relief Funds to 28 nonprofit organizations supporting food-insecure residents
The Council continues to monitor policy changes and identify opportunities to support community-based responses that help families maintain access to nutritious food.
