ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, childcare, food, transportation, health care, and technology. These workers often struggle to keep their own households from financial ruin, while keeping our local communities running. You may know ALICE as a relative, a friend, or as a co-worker. You may be ALICE. Members of our essential workforce like cashiers, waiters, childcare providers, and others, earn just above the Federal Poverty Level but less than it costs to make ends meet. These struggling households are forced to make impossible choices each day. ALICE also represents the data that is reshaping the dialogue on financial hardship across the United States.
